How would you like to get some valuable tips on gardening as you are ready to start on your own? For valuable tips on gardening, here are some sources from where you could take help: internet, gardening clubs, books, magazines and of course your local nursery. The information that you must have are the amount of sunshine your garden would get, mulch, tips on using fertilizers and the type of soil needed. There is some more information which you need to have. Tip #1: Pull out the paper and start planning your garden because the time this will save will be huge. Keep the plan in front and call a friend to discuss the whole matter. First make sure how you want your garden to look. Gardening Tip #2: Soil preparation is one of the major factors which can decide the success of your gardening efforts. One of the important points of consideration is that all plants may not grow well in the same kind of soil. For the natural flavor to remain in your food, use organic fertilizers in your vegetable or herb garden. Instead of using ordinary fertilizer, try using any good compost or even wooden chip mulch. If you think that having a compost heap at your backyard is a near-impossible idea, think again. Fresh home brew compost is filled with essential nutrients for our herb and vegetable garden, but after all it may not be a very realistic idea. Though mulch is a good substitute to home compost, you have to be sure that they are either pine or redwood, as it breaks faster since they are softer woods. Whatever you use – mulch, compost or fertilizer, just make sure that they are mixed well. Instead lay the plants on top of the soil to check once and for all how your garden would ultimately look like. I firmly believe it is wise to plant plants together that have similar characteristics. For instance, plants with larger radii should be clubbed together. Segregate taller plants from the shorter plants and plant the former at the back – so that you can see all the plants. Gardening Tip #4: Your garden needs watering regularly. Keeping up with it can be a big job depending on how big your house is. I recommend using an automatic watering system, as then the garden can grow on its own. Starting from a big sprinkling system to a timer tied to a hose – the automatic watering system has it all. Gardening can be an engaging and rewarding pastime which gives you pleasure, beauty and of course, food also!
